hello, friend. welcome. i hope you are reading this from a place of ease, and if not, let me invite you to take a moment to connect with yourself. take a deep breath and think of something you’re proud of.

i began writing this blog post in january, and here i find myself in the middle of september. i figured it’s never too late to return to it. defining my brand is an ever-evolving journey, and i’m truly amazed at what i’ve accomplished so far. clumsy world launched in february 2021. this year has been full of unimaginable challenges, heartbreaking loss, and the glimmer of hope that i feel when i’m in the flow state of expressing my creativity. i started clumsy world to create a space in which my creativity could thrive, while connecting with others who appreciate the healing benefits of color, texture, statement-making and a sense of play in adorning their bodies and homes.

let me give you some background on myself. i started dancing at the young age of 2 1/2 and i didn’t really stop for 20 years. last fall i started the intuitive movement podcast with my childhood friend, tammi. we have kept the podcast in a state of intuition, allowing the process to be what it needs to be with the intention of our healing. we share our perspectives about life and what we’ve learned so far, hoping that in doing so others may feel seen and held in community. as a result of this new space to process, i have been starting to re-integrate movement into my life, but in a new way. i still feel like i’m on the precipice of a new relationship to my body, and i’m really excited to see where the journey takes me.

i launched clumsy world on my birthday this year as a gift to myself. a gift of commitment to following my intuition, trusting my creative voice, and putting my art out into the world without apology. the name 〰️clumsy world〰️ came to be out of the desire to create a space for all of the clumsiness and beauty that exists in this life. perfection does not exist — and this is coming from a self-proclaimed perfectionist. but truthfully there is no perfect way to get through the messiness that is life on this planet. clumsy world embraces the mess, invites it in, sees the beauty in that mess and aims to start a relationship with it. we all have the capacity to be kinder to ourselves. clumsy world aspires to be a reminder that each of us is beautifully unique and inherently worthy of love. let the jewelry be a reminder, an invitation to a ritual of self love every time you wear your clumsy piece.

in addition to embracing and reclaiming clumsiness, the “world” in our name is also *quite* intentional. we are dedicated to operating our small business in an ethical, respectful and sustainable way. we donate 10% of proceeds to community organizations, and we’re always open to suggestions of places that are in need of funds. in terms of sustainability, you can find one of a kind pieces of upcycled art in our shop. these are created with the intention of utilizing items that already exist and giving them new life. we currently work with reused packing materials and make sure to always follow sustainable practices like recycling and utilizing scraps while working. we source our glass from a local supplier in pasadena, and we make every effort to support other small businesses before shopping at big box retailers for our findings and supplies. our state-of-the-art kiln fuses all of the glass in our shop in a fraction of the time of a typical kiln, reducing our carbon footprint and allowing more time for creation! this is just the beginning and we can’t wait to continue integrating sustainability into our products and actions.

i’ve struggled with my multidisciplinary identity at various points throughout my life. a very special college professor named roz helped me to understand that the multiplicity within me IS my gift. it is not a hindrance to have so many varying ideas, passions, interests and dreams. it may make things take more time, because i am creating a new path. but that path is completely my own, and i am honored to walk it. my training as a dancer is the backbone of clumsy world because it is the foundation of who i am. i spent my formative years in a studio, perfecting technique, learning countless lessons, and always striving to be better. and yet, i am still a clumsy human living through an incredibly challenging time in history on this beautiful and complicated planet. clumsy world is a space that celebrates our humanity, leading with acceptance and aiming for a world with greater positivity, action and care.

i have so many ideas and plans for clumsy in the future, and i’m also SO grateful for where it stands right now. i made this space for all of us, and i cannot say enough how grateful i am that you’re here with me! thank you for joining in this journey. here’s to the future.
